Sterilization program

Sterilization

To reduce the overload of pet animals on our island the Society promotes spaying and neutering of pets to prevent unwanted litters and unnecessary killing of puppies and kittens. Adult shelter animals are sterilized before adoption. When adopting a pup or kitten, the new owner is required to sign a commitment to have that pet sterilized when it is about 6 months old. The owner will be reminded of the due sterilization date by a telephone call from one of the volunteers in charge of adoption control.

Bella arrived pregnant at the shelter and gave birth to seven puppies. Sadly mother and litter became victims of Distemper.

Sterilization Fund

Persons who cannot afford to pay for the sterilization of their pet can apply for a contribution from the Sterilization Fund. Evidence of financial hardship and a minimum payment are also required. This Fund has been made possible by donations from people who wish to give those of their fellow men who care for animals but have low financial resources, a helping hand.

Sterilization Program

Many readers in the Netherlands and in other countries will have visited our “Dushi Kòrsou” and been saddened by the sight of so many neglected animals. You CAN make a difference …. Please help! With your donation you will immediately improve, through sterilization, the life of a neglected or abused animal, and you will also make a long-term contribution to the overall community of Curacao. A donation of any amount, large or small, will always be received with gratitude.

Help us solve the tragic problem of wildly excessive numbers of both stray and pet animals on our island. Please support our fight against neglect and cruelty and support the Project 'Operation Pet and Stray Control'. Read more>>
